“Eugene Tssui: World of Interdisciplinary Design & Living,” was an event like no other before at 3319 Marché, or anywhere else in the world. The event, curated by 3319 Marché, was a collaborative project with polymath architect Eugene Tssui. Tssui embodies the eccentric identity of a polymath, through his interdisciplinary approach to learning.
As we collaborated on creating a cohesive theme and show with Tssui, the topic of interdisciplinary thinking kept regurgitating. Interdisciplinary studies is the practice that integrates concepts, methods, and perspectives from multiple academic disciplines to address complex problems or create a more comprehensive understanding of a topic. Tssui’s integrates this practice directly to his lifestyle and profession, conceptualizing new ways to be interdisciplinary as both an architect and creative.
To enact on this theme of interdisciplinary studies, we created a show that touched the different fields of which Tssui himself embodies: art, fashion, music, athletics, and architecture. The show centered around how Tssui’s different endeavors all propel one another, and stimulate ultimate creativity. The walls of Marché exhibited his different media, from paintings to architectural renderings, while the fashion show exhibited his clothing designs, and featured special performances centering around live music.
